Engineer? Technician? And Parent of a Primary school child?
The School Gate SET wants YOU!
School Gate SET inspires and supports STEM- savvy parents who want to help their children’s schools. Thanks to a grant from the Royal Academy of Engineering’s “Ingenious” award scheme, we’re able to offer free practical training in a range of activities and confidence-building workshops as well as ongoing support from the network.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) subjects are crucial to address the UK’s skills gap, but many primary school teachers do not come from a STEM background and face increasing pressures on their time, both in and out of the classroom.
We’re calling on engineer and technology parents on career-breaks based in Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Hertfordshire, to get in touch and sign up to become members of small pilot cluster groups.
After undergoing training, these parents will connect with professional engineering organisations and enrich the educational experiences of their own children and others. Schools will benefit from their enthusiasm and expertise.
Eventually our aim is to establish a national self-sustaining scheme that will have an impact on schools, parents and children for years to come. Want to be at the vanguard of that exciting journey?
